On 900AM WURD, Monique Lin-Luse discusses the legacy of Brown v. Board of Education and the ESEA. LDF continues to advocate for strong federal oversight to be included in the reauthorization of the ESEA (Elementary and SEcondary Education Act/No Child Left Behind) in order to ensure resource equity and quality education for all children.
“LDF is still pursuing promise and guarantees of Brown. The ESEA sets federal expectations of equal access to education. It is, in fact, civil rights legislation. We work to ensure ESEA means real federal accountability, so that kids are given equitable access and good teachers. “It is important that people contact their representatives right now so that they go into the ESEA vote knowing what is important to their constituents.” -Monique Lin Luse
