On Saturday, May 11, 2013, Christina Swarns, Director of LDF’s Criminal Justice Project, appeared on MSNBC’s, “Up with Steve Kornacki” to discuss the death penalty, whether or not it is a deterrent, and the extent to which American views on capital punishment have shifted. In this context, Ms. Swarns also discussed the role of race in the death penalty and the case of LDF client, Duane Buck, who was sentenced to death after racially biased testimony was presented to his sentencing jury.
