Sherrilyn Ifill joins a panel on the Diane Rehm Show to discuss the tragic slaying of NYC Police Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu and the current debate over policing, the criminal justice system and racial fairness:
“In a speech yesterday New York Mayor Bill de Blasio called the murder of two New York police officers last weekend ‘an attack on all of us’, ‘an attack on our democracy.‘ He said it was time ‘to put aside political debate’ and ‘to put aside protests.’ The man who killed the two officers as they sat in their patrol car had claimed his actions were in retaliation for the deaths of Michael Ferguson and Eric Garner. Some protesters and some politicians, including Mayor de Blasio, are being accused of raising anti-police sentiment.
