The Rockefeller Brothers Fund announced the appointment of Legal Defense Fund (LDF) President and Director-Counsel Janai Nelson to its board of trustees. The Rockefeller Brothers Fund is a private family foundation with a mission to advance social change that contributes to a more just, sustainable, and peaceful world. Ms. Nelson made the following statement following her appointment.
“The Rockefeller Brothers Fund is one of the most respected philanthropic organizations in the world. The organization and its leadership have consistently demonstrated a willingness to test the boundaries of philanthropy as a catalyst for change.
I look forward to collaborating with the m embers of this dynamic board as we confront an inflection point not just in the United States, but, around the world. I am particularly excited to apply my expertise in civil rights, racial justice, and the advancement of democracy to improve conditions globally.”
Other new trustees appointed to the board are Carlos Alvarado Quesada, former president of Costa Rica; Robin Strawbridge, vice president of the Fleishhacker Foundation; and Henry Timms, president and CEO of Lincoln Center.
