LDF Urges Senate Judiciary Committee to Swiftly Carry Out its Constitutional Duty By Holding Supreme Court Nominee Hearings

Today, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) issued a letter requesting the Senate Judiciary Committee faithfully carry out its constitutional duty by holding a hearing for any Supreme Court nominees presented by President Barack Obama. Additionally, LDF urges the Committee to move expeditiously on the numerous pending nominations for the lower federal courts, including that of Judge Adbul K. Kallon to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Previously, in February, LDF joined with 81 other organizations, in issuing a letter insisting that the Committee not delay in fulfilling its constitutional obligation to give fair consideration to any Supreme Court nominee presented by President Barack Obama.
