On Thursday February 19th, LDF Associate Director-Counsel Janai Nelson participated in the Practising Law Institute’s seminar entitled “Diversity & Inclusion in Law Practice“, joining a renowned faculty of attorneys and diversity professionals to discuss significant legal developments that impact diversity, implicit bias, the current status of key diversity initiatives, and the challenges and best practices for achieving a diverse workforce. The panel was moderated by Lorraine S. McGowen, partner in the New York office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.
The event touched on important themes that affect the workplace such as implicit bias and the best ways to incorporate business practices that promote diversity as well as how to create sustainable diversity pipeline initiatives in the workplace that reflect the current cultural demography of 2015. The event ended with a roundtable discussion on diversity. Ms. Nelson participated in the closing session designed to unearth best practices and retention strategies for diversity efforts.
