“We are surrounded by milestones. We are awash with celebrations and commemorations of some of the most important moments of the transformative era in our history the civil rights movement. LDF has remained at the center of the struggle for justice and equality throughout our 75 years. Brown v Board, for example, didn’t simply overturn Plessy v. Ferguson’s separate but equal doctrine, it introduced an entirely new theory of equality under the constitution, and out of that new theory of substantive equality, emerged this unprecedented, multiracial, integrated, democratic experiment that we call modern America.”
