The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) has submitted testimony to the South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee in opposition to two voter suppression bills — S. 113 and S. 236. LDF is concerned that the enactment of these bills would create unnecessary barriers and burdens that will disproportionately impact Black voters and other voters of color, as well as elderly and disabled voters, and may violate federal laws, including the First, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
