Today, Legal Defense Fund, ACLU of Georgia, and the Southern Poverty Law Center sent letters to all Georgia counties regarding early voting during the upcoming runoff election. The groups urge officials to offer additional advance voting for the December 6, 2022 Runoff Election beyond the minimum five days of advance voting that are mandated by Georgia law. It is widely expected that turnout for the December 6 runoff will be extremely high, and additional advance voting options are critical to accommodate the large number of voters and to avoid long delays at the polls. The dates and times currently mandated for advance voting are all during weekday working hours. In particular, the groups urge election officials to add at least three additional days of advance voting on Tuesday, November 22, Wednesday, November 23 and Sunday, November 27 from 7:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.
