After working as a paralegal and research director for LDF prior to law school, Johanna Steinberg rejoined LDF Criminal Justice Practice in July 2007. Her work includes civil litigation challenging discriminatory police practices, post-conviction capital appeals, and indigent defense reform.
Before returning to LDF, Ms. Steinberg worked at The Bronx Defenders, as an E. Barrett Prettyman Fellow in Georgetown University Law Center's Criminal Justice Clinic, and as a law clerk to the Honorable Virginia A. Phillips of the Central District of California. She graduated with an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Georgetown University Law Center, a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and an A.B. from Brown University. She was a recipient of the LDF Earl Warren Civil Rights Scholarship and the Henry Meacham Public Service Award.
