NAACP Legal Defense Fund Urges Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin to Veto “Blue Lives Matter” Bill

“Today LDF lawyers go to court in Louisiana to represent Black voters in Terrebonne Parish, who have been denied the equal opportunity to elect their preferred candidates to the 32nd JDC, a Louisiana state court that has jurisdiction over Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana,” said Leah Aden, LDF Senior Counsel. “We will argue that Louisiana must open the political process and provide avenues for equal voting and participation for all of its citizens.”
"If you look at the 23rd Judicial District or the 16th Judicial District, they all have districts like the one we're trying to achieve, which is a district where black voters are the majority," said Leah Aden, attorney for the New York-based NAACP Legal Defense Fund, which is representing the local NAACP chapter in the trial.
