Washington – Today, nearly 20 civil rights groups and education advocates released shared civil rights principles for the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
In multiple appearances on national media over the past few days, LDF leaders continue to press for action and answers on the police shooting of Michael Brown, and on the larger issue of overly militarized police forces that acculturate officers to devalue and dehumanize people and communities of color.

The media respond to the preliminary settlement agreement reached to end the New York City Police Department’s (NYPD) improper and unlawful enforcement of criminal trespass laws in public housing. This settlement will resolve Davis et al. v. City of New York et al., 10 Civ.
