LDF Director-Counsel Sherrilyn Ifill was named by the American Constitution Society of as one 13 Top Women of Color to Watch in 2013. The list recognized that "women of color are leading progressive movements nationwide." Noting Ifill's work as "a lawyer and civil rights advocate for more than 20 years", the ACS notes that "Ifill has spent her life's work advocating on voting rights and political participation for communities of color, women, and low-income communities." Other honorees include, among others, Shonda Rimes, creator, head writer and executive producer of several top television dramas; Joy-Ann Reid, managing editor of The Grio; Judith Browne-Dianis, co-director of the Advancement Project; and Jessica Gonzalez-Rojas, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health.
