For thirty-one years, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund has organized the nation's most prestigious training conference for defense teams involved in the representation of capitally charged and death-sentenced prisoners throughout the country. LDF's Capital Punishment Training Conference began as an informal meeting of a small group of lawyers who needed the opportunity to share and develop strategies for defeating the death penalty. Today, the Conference is the annual gathering place for approximately two-hundred new and experienced attorneys, mitigation specialists, investigators and organizers who come together to learn the most cutting-edge approaches to capital defense representation. LDF's invitation-only conference offers CLE-certified panels and workshops by leaders in the legal, academic, medical, and mental health fields.
