Make a Donation
You can make a real difference in the lives of all African Americans ? and in
the health of your nation ? simply by supporting the NAACP Legal Defense and
Educational Fund, Inc. Any gift you make will be welcome and important.
Gifts can be made in several convenient ways. All gifts are tax deductible.
Give A Direct Gift To The Legal Defense Fund
An unrestricted donation of cash is immediately available to LDF and helps us
in many ways.
Give Stocks, Bonds, Or Mutual Funds
Gifts of stocks, bonds, or mutual funds are a great way to contribute to the
Fund. If you have stocks or other appreciated assets that you have held for
more than a year, making a gift of them may result in significant tax savings
to you. Here is how it works: LDF gets the stocks or bonds; you get a tax
deduction for the current fair market value of the stock; but you do not have
to pay capital gains taxes that would have accrued if you had merely sold the
assets. This is very good for your tax position, but, more importantly, you
will be helping the LDF to do its vital work.
Give A Continuing Gift
You can give a gift to LDF every month, automatically. A gift of $5, $10, $20,
$50, or $100 a month will add up to a significant amount for LDF while not
putting a serious strain on your budget. You can think of it this way, "Let?s
see, so much for rent, so much for food, so much for transportation, so much
for social justice and equality."
LDF can arrange to have your gift charged to a credit card or debited from a
bank account. Please contact the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund for a
monthly donation form to start your giving. You can cancel your gift at any
time ? but you won?t want to. Equal justice is too important.
Give To LDF's Scholarship Funds
The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund provides scholarships to help
African American students go to college and go to law school. You can
contribute to the scholarship funds by clicking here.
Give A Bequest To LDF
You can help the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund for years to come.
It?s always hard to think about estate planning, but it can be one of the most
thoughtful ? and most generous ? steps you can make. Through a bequest to LDF,
you can leave a legacy that will really make a difference to everybody.
Here is the legal designation to be used when you name LDF as a beneficiary in
your will:
"I give and bequeath __________ to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund,
Inc., a charitable and educational corporation organized under the laws of the
State of New York, headquartered at 99 Hudson Street, New York, NY 10013."
